The Elephant Man Collector’s Edition packaging, a Vintage Classics title for Studiocanal.

The brief was to adapt the 4K restoration poster artwork for the Collector’s Edition, UHD, Blu-ray and DVD sleeves. The Collector’s Edition O-ring featured an exclusive pop-up church, recreating the one built by John Merrick in the film. It featured a 64-page booklet, containing some insightful articles and imagery that was incredibly enjoyable to work on. The package also contained 5 artcards.

A new restoration of The Elephant Man, with both picture and sound overseen by revered director David Lynch, this release is the perfect celebration of the film’s 40th anniversary. John Merrick (John Hurt) is The Elephant Man, forced into circus sideshows and spurned by society because of the disfiguring disabilities he was born with. Rescued by a well-meaning surgeon (Anthony Hopkins), he tries to escape a life of prejudice and cruelty as he attempts to fit into a world ruled by Victorian sensibilities. Also starring Anne Bancroft as Mrs Kendal.

Beautifully shot in black and white by the incomparable Freddie Francis, The Elephant Man is an unforgettable story of human dignity and survival.
